The Swan, a much-loved hotel on the banks of the River Thames, was once owned by reknowned drag artiste Danny La Rue but a refurbishment was necessary to move on from the tired inherited interior.

Drawing on the heritage of the original grade II listed building, Sarah created a range of bespoke fabrics using postcards sent from the hotel in the 18th century and a feature wallpaper derived from a 1972 hotel bill.

Sarah procured a cost effective range of soft furnishings, furniture and accessories to bring an eclectic mix of vintage and contemporary to the interior, ranging from Tom Dixon lighting to tea trays depicting the Swan Lake ballet, battered trunks, vintage bird books and local feathers framed and wall mounted.

The result combines comfort with an attention to detail that provokes compliments from guests and demonstrates the new owner’s commitment to bringing this hotel back to its former glory.
