Hard Hat Research..

As part of my research for the cornish project currently in progress, I put on a hard hat at the most amazing resource that I could have wished for: GEEVOR TIN MUSEUM

The perfect destination to inspire designs based on the mines and Cornish Tin Industry.

I visited on the MOST beautiful day and the setting of the coastal setting of the old mine was breathtaking.

Prism Textile Exhibition

Prism is an international group creating textiles and mixed media work

The RBSA is set in the charming setting of St Pauls Square in the old jewelery quarter of Birmingham city centre

The exhibition covered a wide variety of media, all be they were connected by thread and also a huge variety of sometimes very personal subject matter.

The diversity of the international textile artists was enhanced by meeting and chatting with a couple of them as shown

The Avalon Colour & Texture Boards

I am currently working on the refurbishment of a 5 * guest house in Tintagel Cornwall. The initial sketch book work commissioned was to research the local mining history and geological links throughhout the area.

The work below shows my process from generic research to sketch book investigation onto more developed design work....

Alongside the research and textile design development I have also explored colours

Sumptuous Bespoke Armchairs

A few pictures of a couple of gorgeously tactile armchairs which are just back from the makers after a transformation...

The inspiration for the colour way came from this lovely piece of linen

The chairs were re upholstered in a plush deep purple velvet and a striking orange linen

Detailing includes contrasting buttons and trim as an echo to their original styling
